FOCUS Masters Invention

They are inventors, they hold a mastery of clock work, automation and machinery. Those who master invention make great use of the of the various forms of power available in the world, whether it is steam, springs, charge stone and even cyphers they know how to use it to power the many machines and creations. In time they become so adept that they are able to exert some control with just the power of their mind.

Tier 1

- At tier 1 those who master invention can spend gain an advantage to discovering how mechanical devices work. Further if they spend 10 minutes they gain a further advantage, and another for every hour of study after that.

- Craft, repair, or rebuild a mechanical device. Those who are masters of invention can repair, craft and build devices as if it were one step less difficult and at a reduced time determine by a percentage roll.

Tier 2

Re-purpose cypher (2 int) – You can re-purpose a cypher to use it as a power supply for any device. The level of the cypher and power the device consumes decides how long a device can be powered for. A cypher of the same level as the device can power it for ten minutes, a cypher one level lower can power a device for one minute, a cypher two levels below for one round, a cypher one level higher can power a device for 10 hours, while a cypher two levels higher can power a device for a day, and a cypher 3 levels higher for a week. Once re-purposed the cypher cannot be used for its original purpose.

Activate/deactivate (2 int) – you develop a mental link with mechanical devices allowing you to activate or deactivate a device within short range. You must have an understanding of the device for this to be done automatically. For devices you do not have a full understanding of you must make a check against its level to succeed.

Tier 3

Mechanical enhancement – You create a mechanical device that attaches to either an arm or your legs. The device give you a +1 to any skill check that relies on that extremity, ie and enhancement of your legs gives an advantage to jumping and running. It can be used to integrate a weapon to your body giving you a bonus to attacks.

Control machine (6 int) – You take over control of any machine within a short range. You can make it do any function that the device is capable of even if it is not part of its designated purpose, ie swing a boom to pick something up when it does not normally do this. If there is a person at the controls of the device you must make a check against the machines level to steal control. If the operator tries to gain control back you then you must make another check against the machine level every two rounds.

Tier 4

Choose either Clock work automaton or a second Mechanical enhancement

Clock work automaton – You create a level 3 automaton. You must have a charge stone or cypher to charge it. Cyphers are treated as if they are one level higher when charging your automaton. It can carry out basic instructions including attacking, it has 9 to target, 9 health and does 3 dam.

Mechanical enhancement – You create a mechanical device that attaches to either an arm or your legs. It can be used to integrate a weapon to your body giving you a bonus to attacks.

Tier 5

Improve effectiveness (4 int) – You can improve one aspect of a machines effectiveness, making it faster, or more powerful, or improved in some other way.

Improved automaton (4 might) – You can lend some of your might to your automaton to make it stronger for 2 minutes. It gets health and target bonus of +2, and gets a +2 to all other checks.

Tier 6

Exoskeleton – You develop an exoskeleton device that attaches to your body. It gives you a +1 on all skill rolls based on might and speed, and enhances your previous mechanical enhancement. It also gives you a bonus of 4 stats points that you can assign to either might or speed which can be changed after any long rest.

Automaton Upgrade – You can upgrade your Automaton to a level 5 device (it has 15 to target, 27 health and does 7 dam) or you can create and control a second level 3 automaton.
